Information gathering
Basic approach to gather historical financial data for companies
Annual report is the main report you will need to construct your financial model. You need to read it from end to end to familiarize yourself with the business. There are other reports including the quarterly reports and investor presentations which you may need to gather all relevant datasets.
Comparable valuations
Valuation based on benchmarks provided by market comparables
Group of comparables you choose is vital to the success of this valuation method. Multiples will eventually be calculated for these comparables, and valuation of your company will be based on those multiples. It is critical to find good comparables to give benchmarked valuations.
Financial statements forecasts and schedules
Understanding basic pillars of DCF valuation model
DCF valuation is a valuation method based on cash flows, and it is independent of the market. You can find answer to the question “Is this company worth buying, or not?” It is an in-depth process, and you need to consolidate financial information into a single file.
DCF valuation
DCF valuation based on financial projections
After completing the financial statement projections, we conduct actual DCF valuation. The basis of this valuation method is free cash flow. We need to calculate free cash flow, along with the weighted average cost of capital (WACC), to determine the present value of the cash flows.
Mergers and acquisitions
